Resumo:

Apresenta um estudo sobre o uso das linguagens documentárias no contexto de repositórios institucionais universitários da Região Norte do Brasil. Traz uma conceituação sobre Organização do Conhecimento e os caminhos que ela traça para a elaboração de linguagens documentárias, assim como as características e principais tipos destas. Traça um panorama sobre o movimento Acesso Livre, a crise dos periódicos tradicionais e a busca por mais liberdade no acesso a textos científicos, contexto sob o qual desenvolveram-se os repositórios. Demonstra a adesão ao movimento acesso livre e as primeiras ações em seu favor ao redor do mundo e no Brasil, como as ações de incentivo de pesquisadores e órgãos governamentais. Reflete sobre a importância da utilização de linguagens documentárias na padronização de termos representativos de documentos disponibilizados em repositórios institucionais universitários, assim como os métodos e instrumentos que serão utilizados para obter os dados e responder a questão norteadora da pesquisa.

Abstract:

This work presents a study on the use of documentary languages in the context of university institutional repositories in the Northern Region of Brazil. It brings a conceptualization of Knowledge Organization and the paths it traces for the elaboration of documentary languages, as well as their characteristics and main types. It provides an overview of the Free Access movement, the crisis of traditional journals and the search for more freedom in accessing scientific texts, the context under which the repositories were developed. It demonstrates adherence to the free access movement and the first actions in its favor around the world and in Brazil, such as the incentive actions of researchers and government agencies. It reflects on the importance of using documentary languages in the standardization of representative terms of documents made available in university institutional repositories, as well as the methods and instruments that will be used to obtain the data and answer the guiding question of the research. The research subjects were librarians who work at these institutions, one respondent from each repository. The methodology used consisted of theoretical conceptualization about knowledge organization, documentary languages and institutional repositories, searching the existing literature for a conceptual contribution. An online semi-open questionnaire was used as a data collection instrument, containing 23 questions, divided into three macro analysis sessions, each aiming to observe a guiding aspect of the investigation, namely: setting of the repository and the activities of the librarian, indexing policy and the use of documentary languages and the aspects of conceptual translation adopted by the indexers. Eight questionnaires were sent, one per repository, and 100% (one hundred percent) responses were obtained. The analysis of the data was made from these answers, according to the categories that make up the macrosessions of analysis, being a proportion of 8/1, that is, for each question 8 answers were analyzed that allowed to trace a profile of the indexing activity of documents in the federal digital repositories of the North Region. Thus, it was understood that the use of documentary languages in these repositories is not yet unanimous, being used in conjunction with natural language. It was noticed that the absence of indexing policy, which guides the procedures of indexers in institutions, contributes a lot to the prevalence of the use of natural language by these professionals. It was concluded that, despite this prevalence of natural language, the indexers have an understanding of the importance of terminological control and the processes that involve it, such as technical reading and the adequacy of cross-references.
